Simple. Powerful. Transformative. Sophrology brings your whole self back into harmony.

What is Sophrology?

Sophrology is a powerful self-development and therapeutic practice that helps you reconnect with your body, mind, and energy — so you can live with more clarity, calm, and purpose.

The word Sophrology means “the study of consciousness in harmony.” It is a dynamic relaxation method that combines gentle movement, breathwork, and guided visualisations. Simple and structured, Sophrology draws from both ancient wisdom traditions like yoga and Zen Buddhism, and modern science-based approaches such as hypnotherapy, neurolinguistic programming, and phenomenology.

At its core, Sophrology helps you establish a deeper connection to yourself. You learn to observe and work with your thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations as expressions of your unique energy. From this state of awareness, you can create a life that is more in tune with who you truly are.

You practice Sophrology guided by a trained Sophrologist, and then continue at home using short audio recordings. It’s easy to integrate into daily life — no equipment, no special clothing, and just 10 minutes a day can lead to meaningful change.

You can read more about Sophrology and how I see it as a key tool in our contemporary life in my blogs.

If you are keen to rebalance your energy, and manage your daily stress and anxiety, then Sophrology is for you.

It will help you to reconnect with your inner self, help you regulate your thoughts and emotions, and help you to feel more at ease with yourself and life in general.

Sophrology is for anyone who wants to feel more balanced, energised, and connected — especially in times of stress or transition.

It is effective for issues like:
• Stress and anxiety
• Insomnia and fatigue
• Burnout and overwhelm
• Chronic pain and tension

It’s also a powerful support during life transitions, such as midlife, career changes, or parenthood — times when clarity and inner stability are needed most. And it’s widely used by athletes, performers, and leaders to enhance focus and performance.

Who is it for?

Why try Sophrology?

Many people find traditional meditation difficult — especially when sitting still with a busy mind. Sophrology is different. It’s structured, active, and easy to follow. You stay present through gentle movements and focused awareness, making it more accessible for modern, full lives.

Sophrology is secular, so it welcomes people of all backgrounds. It can be used as a standalone practice or alongside other therapies.

It is simple, yet effective.

A practice with strong roots

Sophrology was created in the 1960s by Spanish neuropsychiatrist Dr. Alfonso Caycedo, originally to support patients with trauma and stress. Today, it is widely practiced in French-speaking countries — even reimbursed by health insurance in Switzerland and France — and is now growing across the UK, US, and beyond.
